I don't know which forum or website this would be on, so I decided to try here.
But which is the Chicago Public Team that's a powerhouse for basketball?
I always thought it'd be Dunbar, Robeson, or Simeon. But someone help me out

The 2012-13 Simeon varsity team has 10 Division 1 prospects, and are three-time defending Class 4A state champions. The media attention revolving around star senior Jabari Parker has become almost burdensome.

As a junior, Parker was named the ESPNChicago.com Player of the Year, Illinois' Mr. Basketball and the national Gatorade Player of the Year. He averaged 19.5 points, 8.9 rebounds, 4.9 assists, 3.3 blocks and 1.4 steals a game. The 6-foot-8 forward, recently cut his list from 10 to five schools: BYU, Duke, Florida, Michigan State and Stanford.

A lot of big time players have over 10 colleges recruiting them. That's not the special part about him. Actually according to Rivals, he has 17 offers.

Parker was considered the top recruit in the class of 2013 by pretty much everyone until he got a little injury, and then Andrew Wiggins in Canada moved into the top position. He's still considered one of the top 5 in the class of 2013 and anybody who's anybody in college basketball is recruiting him. It'll be interesting since he's mormon, he might end up going to BYU.

Simeon though is a pretty big. Derrick Rose and Nick Anderson went there, along with Ben Wilson who was the #1 recruit in the early 80s until he was fatally shot in his senior season. His number was retired, but they let Derrick Rose wear it.

Proviso East is where guys like Jim Brewer, Dee Brown, Shannon Brown, Michael Finley, Doc Rivers, Steven Hunter, etc went.

Kevin Garnett played a year at Farragut..etc

What about King? Didn't they used to have a good program?

In the late 80s/early 90s they were rated the best team in the country at one point. Jamie Brandon and Rashard Griffith were their stars. Neither of them fulfilled their promise, but both were HS all-america talents. Marcus Liberty attended King as well.

Remember Jamie Brandon? - Locker Room Prep Talk

I saw him play in the McDonald's All-America game his senior year in Indy. The thing that stuck out to me with him (not that it's easy to judge a player in an all-star game) is that he really seemed a little lost without the ball. He was a guy who needed the ball in his hands to show his greatness. When he did have it, he was incredible, but without it, he was lost. I was hoping he would grow out of that as his game matured, but that time never came.

You're probably thinking of Westinghouse, which has changed to selective enrollment in the past few years. Westinghouse also had some good teams in the late 80s/early 90s.
