The best spot? In terms of what? The sun sets to the "west," so everything you do will be the same. There's not many different settings you can do this from. Rooftop lounge/bar? Restaurant? Just a normal area that's not an establishment like a park? Romantic?

Yeah... setting it looks the same everywhere.

Can't think of a special place.
Maybe a rooftop I guess. So you won't obstruct your views

Sunset is beautiful from the gold coast or near north side of San Diego.

Here, you'll have to get up early and watch the sun rise over the lake.

And I'll say this. I see the sunset everyday from my highrise, and it's much better up high than on street level. IN fact, depending on where you are, it's totally possible to not even see it, which is why you should be up higher or at a place with not a lot of buildings to the West. As people have alluded to, it's not a big deal here. The sunrises are because it's over the lake. The sun sets over a bunch of suburbs. It's not as beautiful. So the point is that if you want to make the best of it, go to a high rise, or a rooftop with a good semi unobstructed view of the West

Might wanna try taking a boat eastward into the lake and look towards the city.
