Just wondering how many on here no longer live in Chgo (relocated to another state, not moved to the burbs) but still like to keep up on the happenings, etc.
We relocated to SC last Nov after 18+ yrs in Chi, and while there's some things I miss there's others I don't. Weather being the obvious one but I do miss the convenience of walking out the front door and being able to access most of what I might need within a few blocks of the house instead of getting in the car and making a 40 minute trip to run a simple errand like we do now.

I assume weather will be the #1 thing people won't miss if they relocate.

Yeah, I left after almost 30 yrs (not really by choice) to Houston. The weather in Houston makes me want to never leave the house.

I am a native. I haven’t lived in Chicago for nearly 16 years. But I follow thread because I plan on moving back and I want to see how much has changed since I lived there. While many things have changed, there are some things that have remained the same. The city may have its drawbacks, but I loved it and was much happier when I lived there (much better than where I am now).

Moved to California in 1980 because I was in transition, and it happened to be the place where I landed.

I most certainly do not miss Chicago winter! If I want cold and ice and snow, I can drive a mile east to our mountains.

I miss thunder and lightning from storms during the night. And I miss decent public transportation. Waitaminnit ... didn't we have this thread a short time ago? Not quite, but almost:

Except for the food, and lake front, I haven't been gone long enough to miss anything. Weather, traffic?? No thank you.
