Ive been trying to find an apartment around the Rogers Park area and I was wondering how the Devon & California area is? Im 27 swf, so I'll be living alone. I recently checked out an apartment on Claremont, just north of Devon and I really didnt like the area.

It seems like some blocks are better than others in that area.

Is there a reason you can't check it out yourself?

For the record, that is West Ridge - not Rogers Park. Devon & California is basically on the border of "Little India" and where a lot of Hassidic Jews live. If you like either of these things, then you'll be happy. The area is not luxurious or anything, but it's not bad either. Normal working class neighborhood with some good food in the area.

Go visit for yourself..

My wife and I take music lessons at the Music House on Devon just west of California. Nice neighborhood but infested with alley drivers. Funny mix of Jews, many of them Orthodox (I never noticed Hasidim) and Arabs. The Tel Aviv bakery on Devon is one of my favorites and there's good grocery shopping nearby. The Whistler on Devon west of McCormick is a good Greek Diner.
