Illinois Dept of Human Services should initiate a program where people who use those blue "Link Cards", be subject to mandatory community service assignments. Some recipients are getting really fat buying all those extra large sodas and chips, with "Link Cards".

Illinois Dept of Human Services administers the "Link Cards":
"Anyone approved to receive cash assistance or SNAP (Food Stamps) benefits will be issued an Illinois Link card. The Illinois Link card is a plastic card that looks and works like a debit card. If you are eligible for cash and SNAP benefits, you will access both with the same card. Only one Illinois Link Card is issued per case."

Default How many gang members are using Link Cards?

Ever been in a supermarket checkout line with about three teens in a row using those cards? Sometimes it's like every teenager in the store is using a Link Card. The state is contributing to raising irresponsible "citizens" with that no commitment freebie for teens. How many gang members are using Link Cards?
How many gang members have Link Cards in their wallets when they get arrested?

This is a problem in every state in the nation. I moved here from FL, it was unreal there. People had two separate shopping carts, all the "EBT" (as they call it there) products in one cart, and then they would pull out a wad of cash to pay for all the stuff they couldn't buy on it from the other cart. Even worse, people get on Link/EBT and sell products that they buy for .50 on the dollar. Some guy in FL recently got busted for funding his entire restaurant by trading out people with EBT cards for product. People in NYC are buying boxes of cereal and shipping them in 50 gallon blue plastic buckets to the Dominican Republic. This entire program needs to be shut down and reworked. These aren't isolated incidents, it's an epidemic that builds an army of government dependent liberal voters and wastes millions of tax dollars while doing it.

I saw an abuse where a black guy bought groceries from Sav a Lot and then after he swiped the Link Card he asked for a cash refund.

There is definitely a need for Link Cards, but I believe they should limit items allowed for purchase. No pop, gum, candy, and chips would be a start.

There are also shady store owners who will give cash for a fee. Sell them $50 of imaginary groceries for $70.

doublenickles, if you put half as much time and effort into yourself as you appear to put into worrying about other people, you'd have reached self-actualization by now.

You do know that there are people who work 2 jobs and have LINK cards, right? Why can't YOU do some community service?

Any welfare abuse doesn't really **** me off. The military is a bigger drain on "my hard-earned dollars" (quoted because I hate that term).
