Ah you are going to have a hard road to travel. The ladies fear they may have an potential alcholic or that they have a partner who shouldn't go out to bars(limiting entertainment options as alchol play such a big role in socail functions). I would suggest perhaps joing a church or other religous place as you may find people who are less into bar hopping.

When do you bring this up? If you bring it up early when they are first getting to know you, bad idea. I think it's natural for anybody to be apprehensive. I mean if a girl that I went on a few dates, told me she used to be alcoholic, I might become apprehnesive, that is if I haven't really connected with her that strongly yet. If we had been dating for a few months and everything is going well and then she brought it up, it wouldn't be as apprehensive.

Same here, but I went with Kentucky instead. There's always plenty of bourbon in the house.

I used to drink a lot, but then I started seeing a guy who hasn't been to AA but has had issues with alcohol. I haven't given up drinking entirely for him, but I've cut way back ... and I lost 50 pounds.

The usual AA recommendation is 1 year of sobriety before starting new relationships.
