Just thought I would check. Are there any cell providers who have data service in the subways? Would like to get an RSS reader to work down there.

Also any comments on the best provider overall in Chicago would be good. I'm currently with Sprint but have pretty spotty 4G. And in the places where I get 3g, it is painfully slow, sometimes only 0.1 mbps.

I think all the major carriers have signals in the subways now.

Verizon seems to have the most consistent data speeds but you sure pay for it. I too have about had it with Sprint and their "4G LTE" speeds of less than 2mbps. From what I've seen, even T-Mobile's 3G speeds are consistently faster than Sprint's 4G speeds, at least here in town.

I never get a signal in any of the subway sections of the L with AT&T. Sometimes at stations I can scrounge up Edge or HSPA+ for a minute but in between it's always dead.

I never get a decent signal in the subway with Verizon. Some (or most) of that might be attributed to the number of people sucking up the bandwidth during rush hour though.

But do you get a data connection, at all? It was only recently for me with Sprint that I even got any voice connection in the subway stations I frequent, still no data, though.

I get a connection through ATT but, considering not much of the CTA is underground, it's not something of major concern to me.
