Let's put t this way. I would be SHOCKED if this poster got even an interview from a referral from this forum.

I work in corporate finance (FP&A group at an early stage company), and live in the south loop. What part of the city are you in?

Maybe, but that applies to all types of networking. You don't just call an old acquaintance out of the blue, get a job, and switch firms. You meets with dozens of people, get to know them, they refer you to other people, who you in turn get to know, and so on. It's called casting a wide net, ie, networking.

You might randomly get the perfect job from the first person you meet, or you may establish 1000 contacts before finding the ideal job, but unless you start somewhere, it won't happen for you.

I work in Corp Finance. Happy to network. Where abouts is your office/you live in the city? Also what do you do, etc, for your company (you can email me that detail if you don't want it to be public)?

Jeez, couple of interesting replies at first, but thanks nonetheless for the expert advice on networking Jman07. Not looking for a job, I just moved here for a job. My office is all a bunch of old-heads and I'm really just looking to meet some younger people with the same go-getter mindset that I can get along with.

permamigrant, I live in Streeterville, just north of the Loop.

mattjones1029, sure I'll shoot you PM. My office is in the AT&T building at 227 W Monroe and as mentioned above I live in Streeterville.
