I have a bunch of toys for boys ages 3 to 7. I would like to give it to families in need , rather than to salvation army. In other words, I don't want the toys to be resold, but given away. Where are some places I can go to drop toys off? Shelters? Churches?
I live on the north side.

Thanks

Join chicago freecycle and list it and the person you give it too will come and pick them up.

Another option might be a daycare or preschool near you or a women's shelter. You can usually ask at the YMCA or YWCA about dropping off toys for their shelter if they have on. They won't give out the location of the actual shelter.

Have you checked with the local hospitals?
I know they used to accept used toys for the children's floor and other lobby areas but that was many years ago.

There are many second hand shops that are not the Salvation Army. There is the brown elephant shop, the white elephant, St. Vincent DePaul, etc. A few google searches will find one near you.
