I'm currently looking at buying a 1bed/bath condo in the River North area for around $200k-$250k for when me and my GF move up there in August. The units in 345 N LaSalle (or the Sterling) building appear to have all of the things on our checklist: washer/dryer in unit, decent size, fairly new, good views, balcony. All of the other places we've looked at don't have all of these.

Now, in doing my research it is clear this building has had a bad history of too many foreclosures, too many rentals, building exterior issues, high assessments, even possibly a one time special assessment? The thing is, all the information I can find is back in 2011 or older. Does anyone have any information on how the building is currently doing now in 2014? I'm basically trying to figure out if the prices are still low in this place solely because of the reputation, or is it still just a troubled place with all of the original issues still ongoing.

Thanks for the help

I don't have any new information, but it sounds like a good building to avoid.

I wouldn't buy there, but a real estate agent should be able to get that info for you if you're serious about buying.

From what I've seen, the units are small and cookie cutter .
