Some people like the real deal, others opt for Domino's. To each his/her own choices. But anyone who is a fan of different varieties of pizza in Chicago understand Burt has written the book for the type of pie he specializes in. I find it objectionable that someone would refer to the food served by a Jew, the owner of Burt's, using "Nazi" as part of the description.

What is "Burt's?" I looked it up on Yelp but all I could find was some joint in Morton Grove.

So the place that many are calling the best pizza place in Chicago isn't even in Chicago?

Yes, the place many (though not I) are calling the best pizza place in the Chicago metropolitan area, is in Morton Grove. Unless there's another Burt's I'm unaware of, but I'm assuming someone would have swooped in to correct me by now.

Interesting. That would explain why it's the only place mentioned in this thread that I hadn't heard of.

How do these additional places < Mark Anthony's, Kuma's Corner, Giordano's, Union Pizzeria > compare to mentioned < Lou Malnati's, Pequod's, Burt's, Pizano's > ?

I really like Taverna 750 for their a-la-carte menu. Its pricey but its a very good selection and I haven't tried anything bad there, plus the place has an upscale atmosphere so what do you expect. Their martinis are also very good, and come with a side shooter but you pay for it ($12 a martini+shooter).

Mark Anthony's - Never heard of it.
Kuma's - Not pizza, considered top burger place in chi.
Giordanos' - My opinion, top notch pizza, and the rest of the menu's good as well.
Union - No idea, never been.

Mark Anthony's is in Villa Park. I was in town this past week and stopped in there. It was very good. Like twaiter I am a big Giordano's fan. Always consistent in my opinion.

I also agree on the thin crust cut to squares concept of Chicago style. It always has and always be my idea of a Chicago style pizza.
