Hello,

I am a NW Indiana resident and was just offered a job in the loop near LaSalle/Adams. I am trying to figure out the best/cheapest way to commute and would really prefer to drive in, however all of the lots nearby are between $350-$450 per month. Does anyone know of cheaper parking options for a 9-5 job?

I will probably end up taking the South Shore, but it is pretty unreliable in the winter, and it would add about an hour per day in my commute, and it's a 15 minute walk from the office.

Any ideas would be appreciated. I have been all over the internet checking prices and haven't had much luck

Check with the HR department at your new company, or whoever might coordinate transportation-related expenses/discounts. Companies often get steep discounts if they have a large group of employees that all lease spots in the same garage. I used to save almost $100/month using my office's group discount.

Thanks I'll have to check on that. It's a small law firm so there are probably 20 employees so I don't know if they would or not

You can probably find surface lots within a 15 minute walk that are about $250 per month, but they'll be surface lots so you'll have no benefit in the snow, and they'll still be a 15 minute walk from the office. You may also try things like Craigslist for condo owners who aren't currently using their spot, and also check Spothero.com for cheaper places - they appear to have a few places within a 15 minute walk of Lasalle/Adams that are under $300 per month, even close to $200.
