Totally convenient to the Loop. Best bed is the "Red Line"; the station is at Roosevelt and State and the train is a subway to the Loop. If you're not sure, the RTA attendant can direct you.

Depending on which stop, it's only a VERY SHORT ride to the Loop. It can be way under ten minutes if you get the train right away. We take it all the time. Buses are okay, the #29 stops and Roosevelt and State, but it isn't all that reliable and sometimes it gets stuck in traffic on State Street, where the train just keeps on going underground. The train goes above ground at Fullerton Ave, beyond the Loop.

As in previous posts, you do have to be wary at night, but if you ARE, you are getting a great deal on the apartment. If there's a custodian, maybe the owner will agree to have the custodian let you in with his key to view the apartment?

That sounds like an unbelievable deal. I can't think of any even moderately desirable neighborhood in this city where you could get a deal like that. I'd take it.
...Just don't give him any money before you actually see it.

Typo. I meant "best bet", not "best bed".

The guy said that he is the owner and he is the only one who can show it to me. He said he is a very busy man and does not have a lot of time to show a bunch of potential renters??

You'll have to ask someone younger about that.....

Not to sound cynical... but watch out for this guy. that deal is almost too good. And I reiterate -don't give 'em a dime before you see the place.

No money other than perhaps 30 bucks for a credit check should be exchanged anytime before the lease signing.

You'll probably hang out a lot in Lincoln and Wicker Parks. Bustling nightlife- no more than 25-30 min up red line to Lincoln Park - about the same to Wicker Park - you'll just have to transfer from the red to the blue line in the loop. $15 cab ride home- well worth it if you've got a tips on. Don't ever ride the subway drunk unless you're with a very burly man.

Well, you could ask him what HIS solution is. Does he want to rent it sight unseen? Is that what he's saying? The custodian should have a key; that's true of all buildings. The owner would have to do nothing in that case.

I know. I do not plan on giving him any money until I see it. The problem is I am going down this weekend with my Dad and he would like to see it. This guy said 2-3 weeks though. And he has other people interested I believe. I told him I am VERY interested, but would like to see it first.
