I watched it and I was really disappointed. He's a smart guy and he doesn't understand the difference between gross number of murders and murder RATE?!! Either that or he was just trying to sensationalize that.

Watched it, was interesting... he decided to take a different path instead of the usual Pizza/Beef sammich route. Had some funny moments...

Well I think a lot of people would consider the city with the most murders, the "murder capital".
In Baseball, the home run champion is he who hits the most total home runs, not who has the highest ratio of home runs per at bat.
Chicago has more murders than NYC and LA COMBINED, that has to count for something

I've been disappointed in this and his previous attempt at filming Chicago...I never expect him to go the pizza and Italian beef route, but still, the people he featured were not interesting and the food was not the city's best to showcase. I feel he likes Chicago and is grappling to understand it but I think he is not served well by the people he picks who stories he gives camera time to. The first episode on Chicago also missed the mark and the last straw for me was when he featured Mancow Miller. I am a fan of Tony's but don't think he hit the mark here.

I was definitely a bit disappointed in how much time he spent focusing on Old Town Ale House (A wholly average bar in a town full of amazing bars) When I was taking classes at Second City, I much preferred to have my post-class drinks at Corcoran's or O'Brien's. I do like that he ventured outside of Downtown and River North and spotlighted some neighborhood spots.
One thing I can't rave about enough: "Parts Unknown" continues to be one of the most beautifully shot shows on television. Seriously, his director of photography is amazing.

ETA: Steve Albini was remarkably well behaved. He's usually much more of a curmudgeon than this.
