Tomorrow I have an interview at 2111West Armitage Avenue, Chicago, IL 60647. I believe that is in theBucktown neighborhood of Chicago. What can anyone tell me about thearea? Something other then the Google.com stuff. Is it safe area? What is rent range in the area? Anything else you think I shouldknow?

If there is already a forum for this orsomething similar please let me know. Thank you.

This is a very good neighborhood these days, having gentrified substantially over the past 25 years. The main commercial area is along Damen and North, a few blocks south. There are two Blue Line El stops (Damen/North and Armitage/Western) which take you right to downtown or OHare.

Thanks.

Rent ranges? Could I rent a studio/bachelor/efficiency apartment for under $1000? How is parking? IS it ethnic diverse? Thanks.

I don't know the rents other than the immediate area would be expensive. Parking is probably difficult. Mostly white yuppies these days, I think. However, it would be easy to live in a cheaper, more diverse neighborhood not far away and take the bus or Blue line to work.

It's a very nice area - diverse, but increasingly white for sure. Rent is quite pricy but you may be able to get a teeny place for that budget. Using Craigslist map feature to browse rents helps for sure.

Do you like beer? If so hit up the Map Room. Pretty awesome dive bar/cafe spot. Its less than a block away. You deserve it after an interview!

I went to the/an interview. Went great. However Iknow the person interviewing me was younger, by the way she spoke. Itonly took me 45 minutes from home, but it was middle of the day.

It is a pricey area, I saw a Land Rover and Jaguar dealerthere. I saw the Map Room. Even though the area is mostlyCaucasian, it felt like other minorities could still go to Bucktownwith no issues. Parking was bad but not as bad as otherneighborhoods. No meters or permit parking.

A small apartment is fine, it would be just me. Also, Inoticed ever other side street had road construction Lots ofrestaurants and bars. Not a lot of clothing or grocerystores. I tried the craigslist map help not sure how to workit.

If there are other forums on this please let me know. That you to everyone above for comments Happy Holidays.

You categorize Map Room as a dive bar?

I have a friend in Bucktown who has a 2 bedroom for 1200, but he got really lucky. This was a few years ago and prices have likely gone up a lot since then.

I wish people would stop fricking asking about Chicago crime. Good god, that narrative has made people so ignorant about this city.
