See my response to the "Purchasing a home McKinley Park..." thread, it's an effin' pit! Bridgeport is a much safer, up and coming neighborhood that's slowly turning artsy, hip, trendy, and "yuppified" that someone else had mentioned.

Right, and McKinley Park is the next neighborhood down. If you can't afford Bridgeport at this point but can afford McKinley Park (and it looks like you'll be living for more than a decade from now), then McKinley Park near the L train stations isn't a bad bet.
