Hey all,

It was announced last year that the El Paseo Trail would be in development. Has anyone seen or heard of any progress? I've done some searches online and couldn't find anything new. Just wanted to see if anybody heard or seen anything regarding the El Paseo Trail which connects Pilsen and Little village together.

I haven't seen anything online or in person. These projects take awhile, the 606 took about a decade to fruition.

I can't speak on behalf of the 606, but check this except out..

The first stretch of Paseo is expected to open by the end of the summer on abandoned BNSF rail tracks along Sangamon between 16th and 21st streets, Mayor Rahm Emanuel said Sunday morning at the adjacent El Paseo Community Garden.

the comparisons to the 606 are misplaced. the paeso is basically just going to be a bike/jogging path. which will be nice but nothing on the level of infrastructure investments needed to make the 606 a reality. they can pretty much pull out the old rail ties, throw down some blacktop and a little bit of landscaping, and have a functioning resource. no need for new bridges, shoring up an existing structure, rebuilding entire viaducts, putting in multiple parks, etc. Its also through a primarily industrial area rather than a heavily residential one.

that said, they havent even announced design details, cost, funding sources, or a timeline. i havent really heard anything about it since the initial announcement early last year.
