I moved here in late February and I heard last winter was a joke, so I doubt I've experienced any true Chicago winter weather.

The spring was fine, but was a bit colder than I'm used to. Pretty sure I was wearing a sweater until late April/early May. Better than 95 degrees I suppose.

Summer was fantastic. There were only a few days I found unbearably hot. I needed AC to sleep at night, but was mostly fine with just a fan during the day. June - late September is definitely the best time to enjoy the weather.

Fall so far has been pretty terrible. Seems like it rains about 3-4 times a week and jumped from the 60s/70s straight to the 30s/40s. The days where it's not raining, it's cloudy the entire day.

Do my descriptions seem about right?

I would say bad Winters are about 3 to 1 for every mild one. The Winters here are horrible when at their worst it is hard to stay outside for a period of time if windy. If there is snow and you drive you will regret living here after a big snow storm and shovelling your car out at six am for three straight days unless you plan on practicing dibs whitch I do not do because I avoid conflict.

It's hell you will day dream of moving until spring and summer come and you find the city tollerble and city it's beuaty oh but winter is always coming you will remember the first bad one for the rest of your life. And don't go walking along the lake in the winter you can slip and fall in.

Just cover your face and layer up.

These people who say winter sucks dress for fashion, not for protection.
It's fine.

Yeah except one thing the coldest part of winter is like late December(around or after Christmas) till like Feb. March while still cold sometimes is when winter breathes it's last harsh dying gasp. Late winter\Spring in Chicago can be a bit schizophrenic with wild swings in temperatures and it can snow (not major) in April! Chicago's winters are not always harsh but they can be rough sometimes.

Summer is incredibly nice! Warm temperatures throughout the day, easy planning of outfits, smooth driving, tons of festivals, no bulky outerwear, and daylight until 9:00 PM in June. Humidity? Pfft! It's a small price to pay.

Fall looks nice, with leaves changing colors. But temperature-wise, it's awful. You have mornings with temperatures near freezing, followed by 50's during mid-day. This makes it very hard to plan an outfit, if you're leaving home for the entire day.

Winter---need I say more? If Alaska-level temperatures, deep snow piles, icy roads, and salt getting on everything weren't bad enough, you keep hearing about this global "warming" thing, adding insult to the injury.

Spring doesn't really exist. Temperatures change from winter to near-summer levels hard and fast.

I don't mind any of our seasons. This fall lately it has been cold but it was pretty warm Sept. and Oct. yes November is probably one of our gloomiest months. It does not get really cold until late December and January. February is cold too but more days in the thirties and forties. March can be cold and windy with some mild cool days. April May and June can be nice but July and August are too hot in my opinion. The best month for weather in Chicago area is September followed by May.
