I am moving to Chicago and just crossed my mind...Who is the best internet service provider?

I am just looking for decent basic connection that doesnt give me too many problems with 25Mbps or so in around the Loop area.

There is no ‘best’ per se, as in applies everywhere in Chicago. The area has multiple providers that cover different parts of greater Chicagoland.

Once you finalize your rental choice, see which ones serve your new address.

Comcast is the best and fastest internet service, provider, in Chicago. It's not even close.

Internet Packages include:

Performance Starter = 10 Mbps
Performance 25 = 25 Mbps
Performance Pro = 100 Mbps
Blast Pro! = 150 Mbps
Extreme 250 = 250 Mbps
X1 Gigabit Pro = 2,000 Mbps

Probably Comcast or RCN. They both tend to have ongoing promos and you can save quite a bit of money if you're willing to switch between the two after your introductory offer expires.

Comcast/xfinity is good but AT&T also has a big presence here. You can get 50Mbps Internet from AT&T for $40 per month. https://www.att.com/internet/

1TB data usage limit, but it's really hard to go over that amount unless you have a large family that's streaming all the time.

People never stop complaining about Comcast. The consensus I've seen is that if RCN is available, you should go with them. I've had them for a decade and never had an issue. I live in River North and have their gigabit service. The practical difference between a max of 1 gigabit and 2 is negligible and certainly if you're looking for slower and cheaper, RCNs pricing will be noticably better.

That link is not useful - I searched my own address and it missed at least two providers I know serve my address, including the one I currently use.

Oh , maybe that's why they [Comcast] are the largest home Internet service provider in the United States.

That's because in many areas they are a monopoly. When they're your only choice, what are you going to do?

Monopolies and good service generally don't go together.
