It seems like about half the people I know leaving Chicago in the past few years have been moving to Denver. Anyone else notice this trend? They all happened to be female also. I'm thinking one reason is because Denver is supposed to be the best city for single women.

I lived in FL and met a lot of people who had moved OUT of Denver because the prices there were out of control and it was getting too crazy. A lot of places are legalizing marijuana. IT seems like a stupid reason to move to a new state.

As someone who lives in Denver and is considering moving to Chicago, the COL is increasing here dramatically. Even when calculating in the increased property taxes in Chicago, you can afford a MUCH nicer condo or home there in comparison to here for the same price.

I spent some time in Denver and can attest to the high cost of living. Not sure why people move there. I guess they think they will be living on a mountain slope, smoking weed and skiing all the time. Good luck with that unless you're retired or a trust fund baby.

I like Denver, but it's a much smaller city than Chicago. I didn't care for the dryness, lack of greenery or the hoards of homeless.

People romanticize Denver for its natural scenery, and if that's their thing, great; but as a true urban lover who prioritizes walkability over everything else, I found the city lacking and oftentimes rather cookie-cutter.

There could be a pot factor in some people's move. Denver itself was disappointing the times I visited. Much smaller than Chicago and not a world class city. The mountains are like tiny paper cutouts on the horizon....the true mountains you want to be in are about a fifty mile drive away. I love visiting Colorado but I'd skip Denver and go on to the places in the mountains. And I would not live there unless there was a very good reason.

Denver is passable, decent, OK, but not a place I would ever seriously consider living in. The entire area is quite "brown" in terms of the scenery ( and not "lush green" at all), and very dry, and distances to suburban locales are very long. Very much a creation of postwar America, to a large degree..
