No. 1 is, ironically, the area around where the Cabrini-Green public housing projects once stood. 20 miles to the north, Cook County has another top 10 neighborhood: the Glen, in the suburb of Glenview.

Americans earning over $200K are flocking to these neighborhoods

To some it means nothing in Chicago still going down the sewer....... but nothing new in two Chicago's ongoing for decades. Glass 1/2 full and dropping for some no matter what. Great no. Hanging in there and issues as other Big cities and its own .... with even sunbelt cities cost continually rising. Still have the Emerald City in its position .... despite it all and perceived worst Major city winter weather.

Sun Belt will certainly have their issues going forward, particularly in regard to massive sprawl, and rising transit costs. Also, I think that MSP and Buffalo have "worse" winter reputations than Chicago ( the former because of extreme low temps, and the latter because of extreme snowfall, i.e western NY Snow Belt)...

Cabrini Green was home to some of the poorest people in the country surrounded by some of the richest, The Glen is a brand new neighborhood that used to be a naval air station surrounded by some of the wealthiest suburbs. It makes sense that those two areas are growing quickly.

Makes sense... yes. But do you not think sunbelt newer areas denote similar reasons too? Or other Northern cities due due to gentrification.

yeah it went from 0% to 39% from 2000 when most of the projects were still being torn down, last cabrini green building was torn down in what, 2010? Being surrounded by river north, the gold coast and old town most certainly helped that neighborhoods demographic change

Yep ... nowhere to go but up. But other cities have similar areas. Still Chicago's came up on top. Even over Mighty NYC gentrifying like crazy. Glass half full as usual..... still dropping and a slimy situation with a foul odor as usual .... Nothing a good shower won't help out with.

It wouldn’t be. Arizona is the Florida of the western US. Lower wages for the most part. Texas is the better state for wages by miles and miles if one wants to move to the sunbelt.

Arizona and Florida also have a high concentration of retirees, which means a lot of the people who have money aren't currently earning it. This ranking says nothing about household wealth-- it's strictly about current annual earned incomes.
