Good luck with that! (The FAA absolutely hates people like Bezos and Musk, btw).

Besides, my ‘drone beer to the home’ startup idea should be a slam dunk! Uber Freight will pay top dollar for my share

Apparently, with all the successful Starbucks throughout Chicago. This thread draws those who dislike it to comment.

I wonder if any posting were to this newer Concept coffee emporium? Only a few in the world. With Starbucks seeing Chicago worthy of on its premiere shopping and tourist street and basically its Main St.

Even those who normally boast for Chicago. Besides, it's not just a corner coffee Starbucks. A huge investment on a stared they will pay probably the most expensive one in the city and one of them in the Nation to operate on.

It certainly adds variety to N Michigan. In a era of retail dwindling one by one Nationally. It still will be a very interesting addition and how Starbucks sees Chicago in the World.

Starbucks has been highly successful and was able to branch out around the world. But I get not liking their coffee. If I get coffee there. I get the light or blonde roast. But as I noted ..... Duncan Donuts (basically the same with donuts). Are more by me. The one in my small city has cars daily lined up along the street for its drive-thru all morning. Not my favorite coffee. But many too prefer it over Starbucks.

But I have no reason to knock it if not my favorite coffee. I drink coffee for a caffeine fix .... far more then as a favorite beverage. A habit basically every morning. I have no real favorite. Best coffees I had were in restaurants. Never really coffee shops or supermarket make-at-home-brands. But h I have no problem with Starbucks blonde roast to by fr at home.

I'm waiting for someone to post here ...... basically for choking Chicago. They are the next to go bankrupt.

I still miss the gigantic Barnes and Noble which used to grace N.Michigan Avenue; even a tourist like me could spend a couple of hours in there, while usually buying something, too...

In terms of larger operations, I second those who are saying Metropolis and Intelligentsia. (These days I would put them in that order.)

For smaller places, there are too many to name that are all far superior to Starbucks (which you can find just about anywhere that has a McDonald's or Subway these days, with similar quality), but Bridgeport is an obvious one, and I'm partial to my local shop, Jumping Bean.

I wonder what you're comparing Chicago to when you measure this "success" of Starbucks. My Chicago neighborhood (Pilsen) has zero Starbucks, but several good independent shops. By comparison, the rural great plains have them at seemingly every major interstate exit. My neighborhood in developing Asia has at least a half dozen Starbucks. They are globally successful, but I'd say they are generally less successful in areas that are more knowledgable about coffee.

Get ready to say goodbye to the one in the Gold Coast

Also, was there a B&N on Michigan Avenue? Certainly there was a Borders where Uniqulo/Top Shop are/were.

Yeah I can't remember the one on Michigan avenue either. I used to always go to that Borders though.

It might have been a Borders--I don't remember--it was also right across the street from a giant Hershey Candy emporium. Great area to go for a book , and a snack....

There was a Borders a block or two from Michigan Avenue's north end. I used to spend many hours there, as well as the one at Broadway and Diversey.

I don't recall a Barnes and Noble on the mag mile... not since 1995 when I moved to Chicago, anyway.

Like I said---I don't remember the name ( Barnes and Noble, or Borders). i just remember the location on North Michigan Avenue, and how big the store was; there were at least 6 cashiers working at any given time, and you could spend hours in there..
