Why are you discounting the museums? The Museum of Natural History, the Museum of Science and Industry, the Planetarium, the Aquarium, the Children's Museum at Navy Pier all all wonderful. Navy Pier, Lincoln Park Zoo, and the Nature Museum next to it, the main Library, and various theatre productions, Willis tower, the John Hancock, the Treasury museum, and the water taxi are great as well.A stroll through Millenium Park and Maggie Daley are great. Even a trip to the Art Institute, since it is never too early for art appreciation. Take an el ride around the Loop, visit Macy's during Christmas and eat at the Walnut Room. kids are easily entertained, and you can go on Michigan Ave. to Water Tower Place and the Water Tower, the Apple store on the River, the River Walk, or the beach. There are are a million things to do in Chicago with kids, we are so lucky! You just use your imagination. Kids are happy just playing with moving boxes as forts in the backyard, or walking through a forest preserve. i have no idea why you think Chicago is lacking things that kids can do.

Museum of Science and Industry is as much fun for adults as for kids. Tons to do there.

Lincoln Park Zoo would be a top choice too.

Theres also a free entrance to Mexican Art, next to Harrison Park in the Pilsen neighborhood, and a small Chinatown museum. In fact, Chinatown itself is worth a tourist stroll! When its nice out, the water taxi from Chinatown is beautiful. Ill be back down next weekend. The North Park Nature Center always has fun and educational seminars for kids and adults. Plus as beautiful park to explore to escape the feel of the city! Next week is their Turtles Club, in the park! Enjoy! Master Jay in Milwaukee

Saying Chicago has little to entertain kids is the understatement of the century. This city is an excellent place for kids to enjoy. I used to come here as a kid with my parents every 2-3 years. We would stay 1 night at the holiday inn in River North. We would go to museums or the zoo or even simply walk around during the day. At night we typically ate out at a nice restaurant or a child friendly one like Rainforest Cafe.

I have vivid memories of being amazed looking up at the tall buildings. It always felt like they were going to fall on me. I loved the city and everything there was to do. It was certainly better than anything St. Charles had to offer (where I grew up).

I suggest that you search some online websites for children activities, etc. in Chicago. These include

1) Choosechicago.com
2) Chicago.curbed.com
3) Tripadvisor.com
4) Crazyfamilyadventure.com
5) Timeout.com

You can narrow your search on these sites to tailor your visit to Chicago.
