Use the Curb app. You get the ride price before you get in and you can add a tip before the ride is over. I never had to wait more than five minutes the whole time I was in the city, and I stayed in RN.

Walking is a great option. Yet Chicago overall has become quite unsafe to be walking around at night.

Never have issues, especially in River North, but as always, YMMV.

Default Curb app for taxis

I used to get Uber, pay more based on demand, posibly have the request cancelled, and likely get an unprofessional driver during the pandemic. Then taxis created Curb app. It takes about two minutes for the taxi to show to most of the time using Curb

Curb took longer to install. It reject my credit card likeone or two times ,but once it works, it calls a taxi immediately and the closest comes to get you.

Funny, the taxi app Curb has been out for a year or longer, but most of us don't know about Curb

iOS. Curb.
Android Curb
