Or is it another project like so many others that Chicago failed to complete?

The city approved it after Elon Musk said he could build it and not the city pay for it. So why do you want to make it POLITICAL?? and blame the city.

Do you believe the city should have paid for it to over-extend itself further? Does it not have the O'Hare project yet to continue too even though that was to be paid with fees OVER YEARS that the airline is paying. That could be in a delay mode in the future?

If it is a gripe the city wants to spend and effects taxes even beyond the pension debt? You should just note the city cannot pay for these things so don't do it with taxes. You pay suburban taxes no? So apparently not yours?

Seems the only intent of this thread was to mock the city government. Still the Musk plan was given approval if Elon Musk Project - was approved by the city to build if it got all the clear to bore though the city also by geologist I would guess.... I am sure it is the last thing on the city's mind and suburbanites as it was to - Go downtown for business travelers to the city and tourist if they were willing to bay the fee to ride it each way.

I am just a outsider. Still I knew - Musk said HE WOULD FINANCE IT and NOT THE CITY. So it is up to him to build it.

In 2013 Musk proposed one for Washington DC to NYC and in 2017 said he had government approval. It still is not built....
This link from (July 2020) about the DC project also mentions CHICAGO and says this ...

- Plans to build a Loop from downtown Chicago to O'Hare Airport appear to be mothballed. A spokesman for the city of Chicago said the project hadn't been discussed since Mayor Lori Lightfoot took office a year ago.

You're Welcome.

No, and I never expected it to be built.

Then again, that's not entirely Chicago's fault... Elon Musk also promises the world and rarely delivers. He's definitely a hype man
