Please stay in Texas.
Hyperinflation in a city where everyone is jam packed together that densely? There are only a handful of grocery stores in the city relative to the population. When money loses value and stores are empty, people will need food/supplies. Even at the start of COVID which was a relatively tame supply chain issue for grocery stores, I saw shortages. Think of the huge gang population (which severely outnumbers CPD), they are armed and most citizens aren't. You think they will wait peacefully for food/supply reinforcements from the government?

Where does the food come from for Chicago's grocery stores? You think everything is grown, packaged, and distributed within city limits itself? If truckers refuse to do their job who will deliver the food? If supply chains get wrecked where will it all come from?

Dont even mean to get into vax stuff but you realize the vaccine doesnt prevent transmission? Also you're not even vaccinated unless you've had your booster, and even then in a few months you'll be unvaccinated because you havent had the omicron booster? I don't know what you're talking about regarding Texas getting slammed, we've been back to normal here for a while now.

Top 10 cities by grocery stores per capita - Chicago is number 8, but Dallas is weirdly missing from the list: https://www.perishablenews.com/retai...ts-per-capita/

Moreover, you don't think Dallas, being where it is, "grows, packages, and distributes" its own food within the city limits either, do you? Chicago is the de-facto distribution hub for half the country. We have linkages to the entirety of the Midwest and Great Plains via plane, train, and highway. How do you figure this is an issue unique to Chicago?

And lastly - the vaccine doesn't 100% prevent transmission, but it sure as hell reduces it. Early in the pandemic (before the vaccine) we saw the highest case counts in densely populated cities. Nowadays, high cases per capita very closely tracks low vaccination rates. Expect that to continue as long as a significant portion of our country refuses to take the bare minimum of public health measures.

Folks, I've cleaned up this thread and deleted a bunch of off-topic posts and personal attacks. The thread is not worth reopening, as it will again quickly go south. Please read the Chicago forum rules in the Sticky thread. No more threads about Chicago crime stats, please.

If you wish to discuss crime and/or politics, do so in the P&OC forum.
