I agree Lincoln Park and Grant Park are large, but they aren't what I consider to be "nature" parks.
That poster from Vegas also forgot, that Chicago does have a boulevard system with wide streets and grassy areas that also is nice. And some of those parks along the boulevard are hidden gem ones, such as Humboldt Park and also Jackson Park.

And while it isn't right on the boulevard system and near the Chicago/Oak Park border, Columbus Park actually is a nicer park than I was suspecting it'd be like. You also from there are pretty close to the Harrison Ave. business district in Oak Park, and also One Lake Brewing at Lake and Austin.

The weather in Chicago right now is awesome. And highs in the 50s/60 in October is perfect. We aren't taking walks at 4am when it's 40 out.

As for the OP's question, check out Lincoln Square, east of Western Ave and south of Winnemac Park. Exactly what you describe. As for suburbs, maybe Park Ridge.
Lincoln Square is a great option.

You may be able to find what you're looking for in the near suburbs, too.. That is, middle aged folks that are single, or divorced, who are active day and night. Park Ridge is an option, as is La Grange and Elmhurst. Of course, Evanston and Oak Park, too.
