I like the Bears signing Collins. He looked good Thursday as well. They need to hang onto him for insurance.

They're going to suck this year. I'm already in a bad mood about it.

^ I do not see how they could be worse than last year. ^

They were 7-9 last year... not too terribly hard to get worse.

I do not get why the Bears cut Lefevour. They could have signed him to the practice squad. I think the kid has a future. And next year I doubt they will have Collins.

Well, they stole one today, that's for sure. If that wasn't a touchdown by rule, it's time to reconsider that rule.

The funny thing is if Dumbotron was not so in a rush to celebrate he probably would have "completed" the catch according to the rule.

Was that a real offense I saw yesterday? That completed screen passes for good gains on multiple occasions?! Overlooked, perhaps, was the offense sustaining drives and allowing the defense to rest. Yes the red-zone ineptitude needs to be fixed and Cutler did make the bad pass into triple coverage (when replay seemed to show an open receiver) and the fumbleia, BUT what a pleasure to watch some decent offensive play-calling! And what happened to Chester Taylor when we had the ball on the 1 foot line?! Isn't he supposed to excel at 3rd down-tough yardage situations?

I wouldn't be too overjoyed by the offense. Cutler carried the offense on his shoulders. The offensive line is still problematic. Cutler's performance was despite getting sacked 4 times and knocked down another 7 times. They couldn't open up a hole big enough for a running back to advance the ball half a yard, multiple times in the same down series when the defense should have been worn down and on its heels. They amassed 100 total yards rushing -- 22 of which are attributable to Cutler scrambling for his life.

Bottom line, excellent showing by Cutler and receiving corps, but they won't get away with those numbers again when they face a real team that can slice right through that O-line unless something is done to shore it up.

No doubt. But compared to what I saw last year.............and during preseason........I always feel better when the cup is half full. How else can one be a Cubs fan for 40+ years?!
