^^^^ The economy affects everyone. gas prices to ship drugs goes up, drug prices go up. get it?
they are in the underworld, they deal with money, they just arent taxed on it.
your saying prohibition era al capone wasnt affected by the economy?
think about what you said.

more people are poor, so more people steal, cause they dont have jobs or morals, so they steal. if economy was good, then they would ave jobs, so they wouldnt steal, not as much at least.
the examples are endless, just think about it for a second. or google it.
etc.. etc...

We're not talking about stealing, just gang related murders. Other than buying chicken and putting gas in those Caprices and Broughms, those boys don't contribute to the economy.

However, maybe the north side is buying less blow because of the economy, and that would translate into fewer profits down in the hood, making the dealers more competitive. Less demand equals more supply, lowering prices... Maybe

miami, theres definelty a relationship with economy and gang murders. gangs are drugdealers, nothing more, nothing less, and you just made the connection, a little one at least. it gets bigger.

its funny how you talk about the northside and southside though.

I'm from Chicago. That killer sales tax in Wrigleyville (north side) keeps the south side fed and subsidezes their heat in the winter. What does the south side contribute? Nothing.

The reason Dubai is kicking our ass in the skyscraper department is because of things like...

a)unions dominating the political and economic scene
b)cost of everything because of the unions
c)the south side isn't a viable labor force - even Chicago construction workers are imported from Mexico

Unions are good for building public transit and other public works projects, but skyscrapers are rooted in the private sector. Also, skyscrapers in the city are becoming less and less spectacular when compared to those being build in places like China and Dubai. The attendence at McCormick Place is down to 850,000 from 1,300,000 visitors in the mid 1990's. The reason for this is because ONLY "select", usually minority owned UNION contractors are allowed to set the booths up at outrageous prices. Vendors, especially at the mechanical show, moved to Las Vegas where they can set up displays themselves or hire other non union contractors to set up. Chicago don't allow this. Chicago's once great industrial sector is bleeding dry... I'm done///

No no...The reason Dubai is doing good with skyscrapers is because THEY HAVE A LOT OF OIL!!

Unions , and especially and probably exclusively unions, do all skyscraper construction, so you are wrong. They do the roof, plumbing, electricity, everything. They are more trusted, they have more recources, licenses, experience, and connections to do the jobs.

Unions do everything big. Its the small single family residences that are non union.

Your southside northside discussion isnt funny this time, now its just wierd.

Yea well too many people have "connections" in Chicago, and I hate to dis my own city, but the Unions killed Detroit, and now they are slowly killing my own home town. That's a sad fact. They charge too much, so money goes eslewhere.

I wont be impressed with a new skyscraper in the Chi until it is the undisputed tallest building in the world, Moderator cut: unnecessary

You just proved you are racist by using a racial slur. I am not going to respond to you any more. Chicago and America do not tolerate this.

I blame unions too. Why should they be expecting to earn 100grand for being construction workers? That's just ridiculous and if you encourage high priced construction work than you are not encouraging people to really improve themselves. Unions are bad for today's society.
