Hi! I am currently a senior at the University of Michigan and am starting to apply for grad school. I definitely want to move to Chicago and have found programs at both DePaul and Loyola that fit my interests and needs. My question is- what program has the best reputation? I am looking at the Masters of Public Administration at DePaul and the Masters of Public Policy at Loyola. I am interested in going into politics after I graduate.

Thank you for your help!

If you want to go into politics, the following schools will best serve your educational as well as networking needs:

Johns Hopkins SAIS
Harvard Kennedy School
Princeton Woodrow Wilson School
Syracuse School of Public Affairs

Thank you for the suggestions. Unfortunately due to poor undergraduate performance my chances of getting accepted to those schools are nonexistent.

For the field you want to go into, depaul would be a much better choice if choosing between those two.

DePaul is so expensive. Is UIUC better? [Univ of IL at Urbana Champaign]

You should try to find out what alums of those respective programs are doing. That will tell you the most. The schools career centers should have that kind of information I would imagine?

I know that as an undergrad people usually just think that grad school is the way to go, but it's entirely possible that depending on your options, work experience would be more valuable than more school - not trying to be pessimistic, just some insight I picked up during my time at grad school.
