The cpd has a hiring freeze and the last test they had in 2006 and they probably wont be giving one soon

I would say you can count on two or maybe three hands how many times an officer is actually shot at AND hit every year.

I have a cousin and a brother-in-law who are CPD. Neither of them have ever been shot. And they both have been officers for at least 10 years. Seems like a good job if you can get it. I think the quality of the job depends a lot on where you'll be patrolling at.

Most police officers in Chicago go their entire careers without ever firing their weapons. So, proportionally, the chance of being shot cannot be ignored but it happens on a scattered, infrequent basis.

Regular range based proficiency sessions are required. The majority of CPD never fires their weapon AT another being...
