Though I have to laugh at someone who pays $70,000 more to live just south of Irving Park Road near the Hotel Chateau. That's what I call bad neighborhood research!

Default Greyland Metra Station

I live out near these stations and I still manage to take advantage of what the city has to offer even if I don't live right on top of all the action.

By the way, the Express buses suck. I have yet to see one do its run significantly quicker than a regular bus, especially during rush hour. They should convert them back into standard bus runs.
I'd second this idea, especially the area near the Greyland Metra Station. You could even look to live a little bit south of this station, closer to Addison and Milwaukee where you can take the Addison bus to LakeView and Wrigley Field, and are only 1/2 a mile from the Belmont bus, which is one of the OWL (all night) busses.

Well I agree. I am not one of those people that do pay 70,000 extra to live near the Hotel Chateau however.

I did the commute from Logan Square to Deerfield for 3 years and rode the metra 90% of the time.

I'd highly suggest NOT doing it...it's a hell of a commute that I wouldn't wish upon anyone. I imagine it is much harder the closer to the lake you are.
