Well they close at 7 on weekdays, 5 on Saturdays, and aren't even open on Sundays. That kinda limits how much whooping you'd be able to do.

(And, by the way, I'll put even money on the fact that if your keychain is Tiffany, only your keychain is Tiffany. I've never heard anyone crow so loud about diamonds and Maseratis and wealth. Here's a hint: People who actually have it don't flaunt it quite so hard on message boards. Now don't mind us. Feel free to continue your vogue-ing.)

Many Chicago neighborhoods are 24-hour neighborhoods Thursday-Saturday. Boystown seems to be a 24-hour neighborhood most of the week. But Chicago is FAR from being a sleepy town in the winter. New York and Los Angeles certainly have more night life options (and many would say better options as well), but I would struggle to find many other American cities that are MORE 24 hour than Chicago.
Boystown is definitely a 24 hour party

No it's not. That's ridiculous. The FD is home to exhausted people who work very long hours. The only people I ever saw on the streets past 8 (and the Street) were Chinese food deliverers making their rounds.

It's not even that so much as the fact that Tiffany's is nice but their jewelry is incredibly tasteless. I do happen to have a lot of Tiffany silver jewelry, but it's not the best in my collection.

If I wanted to brag about material things, Tiffany's is too standard to be noteworthy.

Weekday nights are kinda dead unless you go to roscoes for their karoake party. Its most happening on Friday nights, Sat nights, and Sunday nights, when people from the burbs and cities (yes, some from Milwaukee) all dress up or down and go have fun. The younger ones usually congragate in Roscoes, then going to hydrate or Charlies after hours. The late 20s to 30s, sometimes more mature crowd usually go to Sidetrack. Spin seems to be full of latinos; Circuit seems to be full of hip hop crowd. The leather crowd goes to cell block, and the lesbian crowd goes to Berlin. Wine bar/mini bar seems stanoffish. Other bars do not attract substantial crowds. at 4am or 5pm these ppl go to melrose or nooks to have breakfast. Then the lucky ones go home with their new found mates.

Seems like you summed it up pretty well.

I find Chicago is certainly a near 24-hour city during the summer, but it does die out a bit during the winter when everything goes inside.

Nothing beats Chicago or New York during the summer. Nothing (although I prefer Chicago due to the people).

Default no

There is always something in NYC to do, but then again, no career man in NYC actually parties every night. Find one I-banker that does it. When they do go out they get smashed and throw down on a great time out, but it isn't every day.

Really if anything, you can't compare the Loop to Midtown. I'd compare the Loop to Lower Manhattan & Wall Street. Those areas aren't exactly happening either on a weekend night. And I'd compare River North / Magnificent Mile combined with the Gold Coast to Midtown Manhattan. Obviously it's still busier in Manhattan, but these are the areas where you'll find action in Chicago at night as close to downtown as possible.

Personally I kind of like it when I leave work late and there are only a few people walking around. Or if your ever bored in the summer I love to drive around the city at 2am

Definitely. Except for the Art Institute, shopping along State St., the theater district, the Lyric Opera, the Harold Washington Library Center, the Cultural Center, the university's, dining, etc., etc.
