I think this may have been covered before, but I did a search and cannot find it. What is the significance of skeleton-like figures that are painted on some city streets? Does this commemorate where someone was killed? Do different figures mean different things?

I see them on East Randolph near Columbus avenue. I don't think they mean anything like that, just someones street art is my guess. I think they're cool.

That's funny - I've always wondered what those things are when I walk around downtown. They're in the west loop as well on Wacker.

If anyone could find out what group/individual puts these things down, I would like to know. I've tried doing a bit of research to no avail.
Anyone figured it out yet what the purpose of these mini art forms are?
I've seen them in Washington D.C. streets as well as Chicago (E Jackson/S Michigan) - I have no clue who's been leaving these or what they are for besides causing confusion and peaking interest of perceptive passerbys...
First photo is in D.C and second is Chitown.
