Ummm no it is not. When is the last time you have been there? 2,5, or 10 years ago?

666 N. State was torn down about 2 years ago or so.

This is what replaced it:

666 N. State was never a mansion to begin with. It was always a hotel.

Hutchinson Street (about 4250N) between Marine Drive and Hazel Street in Buena Park.

Also, one in Lakeview that is often overlooked is Hawthorne Avenue (about 3450N) between Lake Shore Drive and Broadway. A number of impressive old houses there with surprisingly big yards.

Don't know if the houses are quite what you'd consider "mansion"-sized, but a couple other streets I like are Castlewood Terrace (about 4900N) between Marine Drive and Sheridan Road; and Lakewood Avenue (about 1300W) between Foster Avenue and Bryn Mawr Avenue.

Only upside of LP is it's closer to Alinea for daily grub
Although, hsw's assessment of this part of Lincoln Park is completely idiotic and wrong, he/she did choose the right several blocks for a great concentration of modern mansions in Chicago.

Here are both sides of part of the 1900 block of north Burling:

If you have an opportunity, check out the Richard H Dreihaus Museum
The Richard H. Driehaus Museum

It was just restored to its former luster last year, and is simply out of this world

Pierce St. just west of Damen in Wicker Park has some impressive mansions. I believe there are also some on Hoyne just south of North Ave, and a few on Concord Pl, and Caton between Milwaukee & Leavitt.

Oh yeah, forgot about "Beer Baron Row"! There are some really interesting 19th Century homes there. Hoyne and LeMoyne also puts you in the vicinity... I seem to remember one of the houses near North Avenue having a canon in front for some reason...

Default ok

Avenger, once again you are equally wong as i am but you did catch me KIND of. as per this picture of the site, taken in 2009 per the quote OF the address 666 N State, the new building is still VERY MUCH under construction, not completed at all. I strongly doubt this started more than a year ago even. Probably 6 months. I was there just short of 2 years ago ans this was still a junk house.

here is the old picture, dated August 2007. and this is on a VERY, VERY good day, minus bums on the stairs of it, or leaning out the window to hand passers bags of dope.

You're wrong.

That imagery was taken in 2007.
