Here's a fascinating story of a guy being arrested for a DUI. The only catch, the officers report lists him as staggering and stumbling during the DUI tests. He failed to take into account that there was a video camera in the squad car, which recorded this guy passing the DUI tests impeccably.

And this officer, who has been recognized for being a leader in DUI arrests, was himself arrested for a DUI in the 90's. Naturally charges were dismissed.

The CPD is worthless and corrupt. They never enforce any real crime, they are too busy beating up 98lb female bartenders. This had to have been a vendetta, since all the CPD I've encountered were too lazy to enforce a law.

For the most part, being a cop is a thankless job and if you have a ****ty beat in Chicago, you're dealing with the same punks, thugs, etc on a daily basis and probably rearresting the same people over and over. That being said, I don't think the CPD helps their reputation when crap like this is uncovered. It does seem that just like the Chicago political system, the CPD has an uncommonly high percentage of corrupt officers.

Yes, there are corrupt CPD officers, but they've been there in a good way the few times I've needed them too. You can't throw out the baby with the bathwater. I've got some friends who are CPD, and they are genuinely good guys.

I generally like to support the police in any city I live, but this kind of stuff makes it difficult. I'm thankfull for the straight cops who really do try to the right thing, however. And there are many of them.

You don't remember Rodney King? Just because the video does not show the person stumbling and staggering does not mean the person was not stumbling and staggering. Let's not jump to conclusions here.

Frankly, when the time comes that I need a police officer, I don't want him to be second guessing his decisions, wondering if he'll have to answer for them later. When the public gets all up in arms over police officer mistakes, it lessens the effectiveness of the police department.

All that being said, this is terrible. Still though, the guy was going 85 in a 45. That's reason enough to get yanked off the road.

You know this is like the upteenth case I have seen on here of officers pushing the limits of evidence to make a bust. I am beginning to think there might be something behind it. Anyhow, I doubt cases like this make it past even our public defenders.

Yeah, but this guy also wrote about a bazillion more DUI and speeding tickets than most cops normally do. That says something - it seems he was either on a power trip or was looking for bribes.

I'd say the only likely motivation would be spreading the pain of his own DUI. He probably feels that if he gives out more tickets for DUI DUI will become more acceptable and not so much of a scarlet letter on his own badge. He would never admit that motive, but I'd say its about there.
