I recommend getting a place in places such as Irving Park,Gladstone Park, Jefferson Park,Edison Park, or Norwood Park and taking the Metra to AH.

You can still go do things in other parts of the city easily living in Irving Park in particular.

Now is not a time to be picky about jobs.

Hell, 30 minutes will barely happen by car at 3am when there's no traffic.

Gold Coast to AH is a horrid commute no matter how you look at it.

If you want to live in the city, pick somewhere on the NW Metra Line, which will be somewhere in the NW portion of the city. That also gives you access to employers in Palatine, Des Plaines, and Rosemont.
