Hey all,

I'm making my first journey up to Chicago this summer to do an internship. I've gotten a bit overwhelmed by trying to find a place to sublet. I found an $840/mo furnished apartment at 1100 N La Salle, managed by Wilmette Real Estate Management. Unfortunately, there are some pretty sketchy things written about it on Apartmentratings.com. However, I talked to someone who lives there (non-associated with management and would have had no reason to gloss things over) and she said that she'd experienced none of the problems mentioned online at all and that her experience has been a positive one.

So, does anyone here have any experience with the folks at 1100 N La Salle Apartments? I'd greatly appreciate any input!

I don't know anything bout the building in particular but it is in a very well to do neighborhood on the cusp of Old Town/Gold Coast. There will be no lack of entertainment or people watching in that area. I would just check what floor the sublet is on because that area can be pretty noisy at all hours during the summer so it might be beneficial to be well above the ground, say 5th floor+.

For the location, the price is worth it. But it's a vintage building (hardwood floors, older kitchens, not exactly "Gold Coast") with amentities like a 24 hour doorman and a roofdeck. If $840 is your budget, then it'll be fine. But if you're looking for something a little more "modern" and can spend more, try the Oakwood, it's a lot nicer and they're open to short term rentals.

Good luck!
