Hi, I’m trying to get a job out there in Chicago; I’m even setting an arbitrary date in my cover letter to give a little bit more legitimacy to my relocation. But facts are I need a job before I can move. I've realized the jobs that cater towards my skill set are in a very competitive field (advertising). Without a local address I’m not even being looked at. So I figured I would just get an office job doing whatever to establish my residence then apply to jobs I really want. Does anyone know of any job placement agencies that help future transplants like me? Has anyone used one in there move to Chicago. Thanks in advance!

When we moved up we just used a random residential address and at the interviews told the hiring managers we were staying with family until a job was secured. An out of state address will just get your application thrown out, I know, we spent a year doing it that way. After phonying up an address my partner got a good job within a month.
