Does anybody know which building it is?

All I can find out is it is in the 3300 block of N. Halsted.

I drove by this this morning. There was so much smoke that I was unable to determine the building--but it was on the west side of the street on the block of Halsted between School and Roscoe. The block was completely closed off, and there were DOZENS of emergency vehicles. The ladder trucks had ladders up to the windows of the building.

No, it was more mid block. The article has been updated to say it was a bar called "Scarlet" or something like that. The Roscoe's building seemed to be unaffected, thankfully. That's a really nice building and kind of a landmark.

Ahh now I see the update.

I spoke too soon. That certainly is not the Roscoe's building in the pic.

Default It's at Scarlett, 3320 N. Halsted

It's at Scarlett, 3320 N. Halsted. Roscoe's is at Roscoe and Halsted, 3358 N. halsted, so it's okay...the fire is off Buckingham, not off Roscoe.

I couldn't believe that fire. Two of my best friends own Scarlet, and I'm usually there 2-3 nights per week. I still haven't seen the damage, but my friend said it was like being under a huge waterfall in the bar over an hour after it was all put out. They're going to have to tear the building down, but the owner of the building is very open to rebuild apparently......

The bar manager lived up on the second floor, and had just taken in his 13 year old sister. He's only 24 himself, and now no job, no housing, no money....in charge of a teenager. Ouch.

The whole building except for the facade is gone and part of the front. I am not sure if the facade is salvageable or not. I hope it is.

I went by there a few hours ago and looked.

I hope it is.

Sorry to hear about the manager and his sister. If you can, put him in contact with the city for help.

Yeah they have multiple fundraisers already scheduled for tonight and tomorrow. I walked through all three floors yesterday. The bottom floor didn't have any fire damage, but over a million gallons of water poured through, and the ceiling and everything along with it came down. The second and third floors are a bizarre combination of melted things and frozen things mushed together. It was quite depressing to see people's personal things thrown everywhere and destroyed. I'm not sure who lived on the third floor, but I know she just moved in there 2 weeks ago from somewhere else. An artist was storing ALL of his artwork for a few days on the second floor getting ready for a show this weekend. He was obviously breaking down when he realized what happened.
