Hi everyone! First time posting...but I have been following for a while...

I will be moving to Chicago from North Carolina next year and I wanted to get a head start on searching for places. Does anyone know of a good place to search for rental properties?

I would like to look in the Lincoln Park/Lakeview/Loop/Wicker Park/Bucktown areas. Also, I would need 1 bedroom w/den and a parking spot/garage. How much do you think that would run in the areas listed above?

Thanks in advance for your help!

In those neighborhoods a high % of the rental properties are vintage, most wouldn't have garages, probably not even parking. Dens would also be rare in that type building. Your best bet for that type of thing would be a modern highrise. You can start with craigslist for a general idea of what's available and prices. Landlords really won't be that interested in talking to you unless you need an apartment in the next month or 2. September and October are big rental months here.

Gotcha that makes sense. I have been looking on craigslist a little bit...Yeah parking will be a big concern...it would be great to have parking in a garage rather than street parking due to snow, space size, etc...
