So its a primary school with an emphasis on language, but where the children attend all day and learn all subjects, like math, science, and history?

Or is a school that just teaches foreign language and students come a few times a week for an hour or two at a time?

Default If it is..

...by "appointment", then you just might have the time for a second job.

Even so, you'll still probably need roommates.

yes but it is anyway 32 hours par week and maybe it's not very easy to carry on two jobs.
..I mean, I can't move to another country to do two jobs! At this point, I could do something like that also here...although I would like to try to live in the States very much...

..it could just be a part-time job, roughly 16-20 hrs /week, with the emphasis on evenings and/or weekends...just enough to give you the necessary funds, but also leaving you with some time of your own.

OK - NOW I understand. In my opinion, this is more like a part time job than a full time job. This is why there are no benefits. And you wouldn't be in a school system where you would hear about or be offered the type of educator discounts I was thinking of before. I don't know if this kind of job is a good stepping stone for other opportunities - but to move here just for this position - I wouldn't advise it.

I might be moving soon to Chicago as I received a job offer.
The point is I have never lived in the States before so I really can't figure out how expensive it might be.
The minimum salary is 23,000 $ par year and the maximum is 28,000.
I would share a flat and I am not too much into bars, locals, restaurants and similar.
Can I live with such money in a basic but nice place, in a nice area? For nice I mean a pleasant and safe place, well connected through means of transportation.
I would really need your sincere opinion!
With that money could I enjoy the city? I mean, could I go once in a while to the cinema or to some exhibition, museum or similar?
Any tip and help is very mcuh appreciated!!

Thank you so much and have a great day!
Only if you're planning to rent for a while.

That's pretty low. Ask them if you could only work mornings. Then try to get an afternoon gig that pays better.

If you are taking this job to have the opportunity to live in another country for a while, I'd say go for it with the understanding that you will have to have roommates and be careful with your money, but if you're young and you don't have other responsibilities, it's an ideal time. I wish I had done something like that when I was younger. Now I've got a mortgage and too much debt to consider it.

Will you be expected to do work after-hours? Reviewing homework, creating tests, etc.?
