As if IL politics weren't interesting enough, along comes..

Rahm Emanuel who announced that he has some interest in entering the mayoral race (I'm assuming only if Daley opts out).

Well, whatever you think of him, there is not question about this:

nobody comes closer today to the mode of a real Chicago politician than Emanuel.

So what are your thoughts of the possiblity of hizzoner being a guy called Rahm who obviously works with the ability to rahm it up your......

would this be the ultimate "oy vey"???????

From John Klaus's column:

Emanuel, the most political animal in this town ... is said to have told people that the ( White House) chief of staff role is an 18-month job and that he is considering a run for mayor of Chicago," wrote columnist Sally Quinn in the Washington Post on Tuesday.

I think Bill Singer took on the first Mayor Daley in 1974. You wanna know the outcome?

Chicago is riven with ethnic political factions. Daley has the Hispanic Democratic Organization and the black ministers (and various black aldermen) in his pocket. That's 60% of the electorate. The rest he may split with Rahm.

Now, do you think Rahm would have a chance?

I can only assume that Rahm is pulling some one's leg. He really wants to be Speaker of the House, and run things in a Tip O'Neill way. Mayor would not help on that journey...
