I've searched the forums for Chicago and did not see a post like this anywhere so hopefully I'm okay in posting this.

Does anyone know anywhere in Chicago where I can get traditional English desserts...specifically treacle tart?

Thanks in advance!

Nope. Never heard of them here. Maybe some of the pubs might have them. I've seen golden syrup and sticky pudding here and there. Maybe make it yourself? Get recipe on internet.

I have seen Heinz treacle in a can at a number of groceries. However, I do not recommend it as it is pretty bad.

Someone over at LTHforum might be able to help you if you don't get a good answer here.

Alright, thanks! Yeah- it seems as if we'll just have to make our own. :/

Just hoped there was somewhere we could go out for it.

Thanks!

There is a small British store in Long Grove called "British Accents". They have a website and you could give them a call to see if they've got them or can order them in.

although not English - but there is a nice little Irish shop on 3150 N Laramie Ave (Shamrock Imports) and they have some fresh pasties, pies, frozen meat and if you're lucky also some sweet treats.
