Many times, when I read writings on many religious venues, people use the word "men" when they intend "people," or "brethren" when they ought to mean persons or people. While some do that because they are simply chauvinistic, some see nothing wrong with that. Does this practice bother you? What do you think when you see this?
It doesn't bother me because I know that "men" in literature is accepted as meaning human beings/people regardless of their gender -- unless it is specific about referring to males.
I find the term to be anachronistic, and some men use such terms as a deliberate affront to women -- a mechanism to keep them in their "place."
When I was in second grade, way back in the Dark Ages, our teacher warned the class that the term man (not men) would still occasionally be used intending both genders. She said that this would soon cease, as people progressed. It has ceased among most people I hear and read.

It concerns me simply because it could very well cloud the meaning of a passage which maybe intended solely for female and not male.
In some instances, the English bible translation does not have the capability (neuter gender) to correctly address a 3rd person...the Hebrew does as well as most Asian languages.
However, other passages may also point to an intent to promote male dominance...ie., "Sons of God" instead of "Children of God" which is neutral!

No. It doesn't bother me in the least as I know they're referring to all of God's children. One word that I'm not a big fan of is "humankind"... now that's really ridiculous, imho.
it doesn't bother me. when the bible says "men" it's talkin' about everybody.
