"Mercy killing", but murder? Interesting to see how the courts will handle this, but I was also curious as to how Christians would view this very unfortunate event.

With our society aging, this problem will become more and more commonplace.

Geez this is so sad, but I'm sorry he shouldn't have handled it this way. She was in a facility that was set up to take care of patients like her and it just sounds like to me the HE got tired of the care-giving and seeing her this way. It's just not the way to do things.

Well, I'm sure he figured that would be the fastest way for her to die. To stop brain function immediately and not have her suffer. Perhaps a gun is the only means he had. He may have thought that was the most merciful way.

By the way, I have been in a similar situation. (Watching a loved one suffering and languishing and there is not a thing you can do about it.) IMHO, unless you've been there, you can't really fully understand. I have to say, I can understand this man. He got to a point it seems where the helplessness took it's toll. Such a difficult topic. Euthanasia... is a slippery slope. But the alternative.... There are no easy answers, I guess.
