Perhaps, this is a by-product of our digital, 'sound-byte' culture where good communication has been replaced by clever one-liners. (Our politicians have certainly mastered the business of form over substance. I, for one, miss the 'good old days' where substantive communication was respected as a means of communicating intelligent ideas in a meaningful manner.

Have you noticed this digression and dilution? If so, what's the solution?? --
No, there is no digression or dilution, you haven't been here long enough to see the real ebb and flow of this board. This is a progressive forum, it's constantly changing and you have to keep up.

I personally enjoy one-liners.

It's a discussion forum, the solution is you either keep up or you don't.

Interesting, my daughter has Traumatic Brain Injury.
There was a time not long ago, when I asked her to read a verse to me.

"Now, tell me what it said?"
Her response was, "I already did!"

Presently, she is able to put it in her own words, as her reading comprehension is increasing.

I believe people are starting to understand a great deal more than they used to; and refuse to remain on the level of their ‘primitive ancestors’ (to coin a phrase).
Personally, I enjoy making up quotes, albeit, not all. Much can be said, using few words.

Oh I'm sorry about your daughter Jerwade, that must be really difficult. It's good to hear that her reading comprehension is getting better.

I think you're right, I think people understand a great deal more than they used to also. And with that understanding comes pride and arrogance, we all think that we're right. True understanding means understanding that we DON'T know it all, just have a better comprehension of things than our "primitive ancestors".

And yes, MUCH can be said using few words.

Sadly, that is not a talent that I possess! Just ask my husband!

I'm sorry to hear about your daughter, too. But I admire your positive attitude and I wish your daughter all the best on her journey into recovery!

Sorry to hear about your daughter, Jerwade . . . we have learned so much about the plasticity of the brain so there is significantly more succeessful recovery from these tragic events today. You and your family are in my prayers.
