They don't remain in hell forever...they perish - to die, to pass from exhistance; disappear...as in annihilated...burned up...into ashes...done...THUS!..sin IS! eradicated...!...
..."For God so loved the world that He sent His only begotten Son, THAT WHOSOEVER BELIEVETH IN HIM, SHOULD NOT PERISH, BUT HAVE ETERNAL LIFE."
Love,
Verna.
This thread is not about annihilationism. It was about the mainstream view of Hell and how it relates to sin. I would be more than happy to debate the falsehood of Annihilationism of which I know extremely well from formerly being a follower of Herbert Armstrong.
Sure it is Trettep!...when you make a statement like this...

This obviously refutes those that believe that sinners will remain in Hell forever. If so, that would mean that Sin was never eradicated. That is the subject of this thread."

Let's see what God has to say about it...
..."Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and will gather the wheat into his garner; but the chaff he will burn with fire unquenchable." Luke 3:17...
...and...
..."...where "'their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched." Mark 9:48.
Anyone who dies in their willfull, unrepentive, sinful state...perishes!...they are annihilated...they are CONSUMED!...they die...as in "no more."...
...THUS! SIN IS ERADICATED!!!

No one is all good or all bad. The bad is like "excess fat" on our Spirit and must be removed . . . but we are "saved as by fire." It is our "works" that are tested in the fire and the "hay, wood, etc." refined out leaving the "gold, silver, etc."

Greetings Mystic...
...and if your (in general) works are not of God, and there is no true repentance and a turning away from willfull sin, once and for all time, and you die in this state, you will not...and I repeat...will not...receive eternal life. It is written. PERIOD.
think you missing the point. What the mainstream is preaching is that sinners go to hell to be torment for the rest of eternity - and they often preach that those same wicked people will rebel against God's way for the rest of eternity. If someone can rebel against God that is a sin. So what the means is that sin would have to exist for the rest of eternity.
But let's say you believe there is no sin and that is eradicated. Then there can not be someone being punished for eternity for something that doesn't exist.
Agree. If persons are in an eternal hell, they will be forever separated from God, unreconciled to him, and still enslaved to sin forever. The power of sin will not have been eradicated, but all are to be subjected to Jesus (1 Cor. 15) why? So that God may be all in all. All belong to Jesus Christ. All will not be unrepentant forever. Such is the power of God. What is greater a blind unrepentant heart or the power of God to cause the blind to see, to enlighten all men? If God does become not all in all and if sinners remain enslaved to sin for all of eternity, all will not have been made subject to Him, including all hearts. Jesus then only gets a handful but He gave His life for all and will receive all for the Father. What Jesus accomplished on the cross and in His resurrection is greater than the power of sin and death. God bless.

This world with its evil system of sin and terrible injustice is HELL. Why can't people understand that? Suffering is indiscriminant and comes upon whomever it will, whenever it will. The big question is: Can you make peace with your lot in life, whatever it happens to be? Can you find joy and peace in any circumstance? That is the measure of the condition of a soul.

Though some claim to be all good, but they are liars. The worst kind of liar is one who lies to himself and believes his/her own lies.

...No thanks Trettep...I'll stick to the word of God.
Love,
Verna.
It is who God IS! and what HE! has to say concerning the subject that gives me great! concern.
Sin will not enter in!!!

Herbert Armstrong's doctrines were false. That is why I no longer follow him, and that includes the doctrine of annhilationism. Again, this thread is about the mainstream view which is the doctrine of Hell (Eternal Torment) and how it relates to the fact that Jesus will eradicate sin.
