It's widely known that young adults seem to be lacking in the church attendance department. Furthermore, college age and slightly older people can experience tremendous spiritual growth during this time that will impact the rest of their lives. That being said, it seems like a lot of the focus in church is on families. It's kind of irrelevant to young adults who are trying to figure out themselves and what to do with their lives. So what ideas do you think would be beneficial to try and get young adults more involved in Christianity?
What attracts the youth and people in general is truth in the gospel , along with a profound witness of power of Holy Spirit ...As the Lord has His witness and gifts of Holy Spirit for those who obey and have a expectant heart for the blessing of Christ .... See when the church leader condemn sinners and the people in lack this abuses the children and the truth is compromised, where Children do see and move out ...See the youth need God in each of their lives and will rebel against unbelief instead of the truth... So if your church does not believe in having a witness of power of Christ and obeying the living God then this is not for you .... Get your youth and even the children younger than teens on fire for God praying and walking in the power of the Blood of Jesus .....

Most churches I've been to, even flourishing ones, have a huge age gap between high school and early 30s. There's usually not many twentysomethings in church. There are a few exceptions though, especially in the large non-denominational megachurches. I think one of the keys is having an active young adults ministry with a lot of activities going on, and second present the unadulterated truth of the Gospel in a way that connects with this generation's worldview. That means keep the focus on the Cross and not on America or conservative politics. Once a person is a genuine believer, those other things will work themselves out.
It's rare for a twentysomething these days to not be completely wrapped up in the bar/club scene and that is also a problem for church attendance.
we need to get away from telling then they have to go to church. a place the go to on sundays, sing a few fast songs, a slow song, listen to announcements, collect money, then listen to a pastor for 45 minutes. Then go home for the week or come repeat this process on wedesday. The youth dont want this, they need to be taught that we are the temple of God, that there is no process or ritual in a walk with Christ. The religious system seems to put a burden on people. We are to be free in Christ. If these youth can meet in homes, parks, anywhere, to share and encourage eachother. Not to listen to one person teach. but a place where they can actively participate every time. Not be in the crowd just listening to some guy preach.
We as witnesses of Jehovah, do home studies, with our kids. We show them through scriptures, that’s there’s nothing wrong with having fun. Because God wants us to be happy and enjoy life, But it have to be clean fun. We have many publications ,(with pictures), showing kids in wicked situations, vs those same kids trying to follow what Jesus taught. There was a film shown on how to deal with peer pressure in school , from other kids. My child would come from high school talking of how disgusted, she was hearing teen girls speak X-rated about their sexual dealings. When she was a freshman, they made fun of her being a virgin. By the time she hit senior year, those same girls was saying,.. ”I wish I was STILL a virgin”
Or the guys who’s now seniors talked down on those girls, and spoke highly of her. So my daughter knew the good that come out of trying to serve Jehovah and follow Jesus teachings. Even if her teachers didn’t agree with her religion. they loved her because she was so respectful to them, and herself, It set her apart from those in her classes. And despite what many wants to believe Jehovah witness kids does have fun. they know they can have parties, and sleep overs, play video games, etc. And The elders plan fun times for the kids as well as the adults.
A couple of weeks ago, the elders rented the skating ring for a couple of hours. Food was brought in for all from different families. The elders, have cook outs, we can have music and dancing , games, everyone enjoys themselves. the elders try to make sure we don’t lose our kids to satan’s world. Though many think we just want to control our kids. Keeping them from being part of satan system, Untrue, we want to save them. After all, it was Jesus who showed he and his followers WASN’T part of the world, (John 17:16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world). We learn together with them, just as Jesus did when he gave his talks. They hear the same teachings as adults, not putting them separate.
One would be surprise to see how the little ones get so excited to have a mic handed to them while in their seat. So that they can response to a question an elder asked. Sometimes it tickles the older ones, because they are so cute, lol, with their little kid responses. And The young men, if and when they chooses, are taught how to become elders. As I told my girls, focus on Jehovah God, he’ll be there for you , (Psa. 9:10 And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee). She starts college this month, majoring in surgical technology, and studying to become a servant of Jehovah. And she has no complaints on being raised by a Christian parent, because she feels her life went pretty well. peace

That is a good example of what must be done. the problem with modern christianity is that the parents have become lazy and not want to teach their own children. they depend on sunday school to teach the parents. I believe it is that most church goers are unsecure in their belief and dont study the scriptures on their own. We, christians, have become to dependent on a church system. we even have our children baptized my a pastor or a leader. Parent, you should baptize your own children.
The Evangelical church can learn much from the JW's.
Young adults have a mind of their own, do not treat them as being mindless.
