There are simple warning signs of a false theology.

1) Denial in the true nature of God
....... any theology that deny the Christian viewpoint of the deity of Christ and the Trinity

2) Works-emphasis salvation
...... any theology that preaches works \ obedience to the law basically has a "checklist" salvation theology

3) We're "The only true church" message
.... Any theology who often make it a point to cast doubt and suspicion on other churches or denominations by claiming that full truth has somehow been lost and can now only be found in the "one true church."

4) Regimented giving requirement
..... Any theology that regulate the giving of its people or requires a certain amount of financial giving in order to receive certain privileges related to salvation.

5) Authoritative leadership
...... Any theology where the leader(s) say they say they exclusively speak for God. Usually such leaders claim to have had a special revelation with or from God, and their words hold special precedence.
  • a more extreme example of that is the David Korish \ Jim Jones
6) Loss of salvation for leaving
....... Any theology that insists that if a member decides to leave their group, for whatever reason, they jeopardize their salvation before God.

7) Authority beyond the Bible
..... Ant theology that does not considered the Bible as a completely authoritative scripture. They then have the requirement that extrabiblical writings are necessary. Normally these "scriptures" are considered to have equal to \ more authority than the Bible.

8) Unique truths that Jesus didn't reveal when he walked the earth
....... Ant theology that claims that they were given some special unique truth that they only know about which nobody else has had.

Hmmm, I don't know if that's your original list or not, but either way I like it!

Could you please add WHY you believe this and back it up with a source, with some evidence? Thank you.

Not to say if I agree or disagree with any of your 'ways'; but shouldn't each 'way' be a Bible verse?

Otherwise these are each examples of a person [you] giving your doctrine.

Why I believe it....Matthew 7:15-20
[ A Tree and Its Fruit ] “Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. By their fruit you will recognize them. ... A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit.

Those eight points are easy fruit to reconize the false theologies or as Jesus calls them not just wolves butferocious wolves in sheep's clothing.

That should answer the "source" demand, comparing what the truth is vs the false theology

Evidence...? as to whom is producing the false theology?

\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\
btw... the last two instead of "ant" should have been "any"

1) Denial in the true nature of God \ Deity of Christ

The true theology:
Father is God Gal 1:1, Rev 1:6
The Son is God John 8:58, John 1:1
The H.S. is God Acts 5:4

God referes to himself in the singular and in the very next statement uses the plural:
Isaiah 6:8

The Deity of Jesus
Colossians 2:9

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2) Works-emphasis salvation

The true theology:

Romans 3:21,
Romans 3:28,
Ephesians 2:8-9
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3) We're "The only true church" message ...that full truth has somehow been lost and can now only be found in the "one true church."

The true theology:

Mark 13:31,
Matthew 28:20
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4) Regimented giving requirement

God no longer requires a fixed amount, for we are no longer under the law but grace. Required amounts are under the old covenant given.
The true theology:

Hebrews 8:8-11,
2 Corinthians 9:7
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
5) Authoritative leadership

The true theology:

Ephesians 5:23

-----------------------------------------------------------------
6) Loss of salvation for leaving

The true theology:

John 3:16
John 12:48

(Jesus nevers says one losses salvation by leaving an group\organization)
------------------------------------------------------------------
7) Authority beyond the Bible

The true theology:

John 14:26
John 20:31
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
8) Unique truths that Jesus didn't reveal when he walked the earth

The true theology:

John 14:26

Jesus says that these eight points distinguish the wolves?

I would LOVE to see that Chapter and Verse.

Now you see post #6... don't you just LOVE now?

Everything that was written was what Jesus taught....

John 14:26
But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.

Good list, most of which embodies a readily recognizable scripture authority! The fact that you bill it as a 'generic' list provides some room for imbedding modern 'church' deviations from scripture. I believe we are living in (or close to) the 'Last Days' when many will "no longer endure sound doctrine." Your list is a pretty good representation of how that manifests itself today.

Thanks.

God's Word has that effect on people... one either is lead to see it as the truth or one rejects it and attacks it for multiple of reasons.

I agree we are in the last days for in the Bible it was spoken by the prophet Joel that God said when Pentecost occured, it would be the Last Days as far as God is concerned. Acts 2:17
